I decided to try a service called BuildMyRank.

I heard it was killing it for people.

Initially, I spent about $1,000 and had them write a few hundred posts for a few different "SEO Software" related keyword terms...

I nearly filled my pants when I saw my rankings soar like a rocket.

One of the links was on a page with a page rank of 7!

Stupidly, I decided to stop spending time on other strategies and started funneling money into BuildMyRank.

I spent over $6,500 on posts.

As you may know, BuildMyRank got destroyed in Google's latest update. They de-indexed the entire blog network in a matter of just a few seconds.

Google's human review team is going out and checking the search results to see what's coming up for different terms. These people can now issue site specific penalties to any website they find. If they're having a bad day, POOF! Your rankings plummet.

I've seen in all my years online.

I'm watching all kinds of different advice from all of the standard SEO resources I follow. Some of it is good.

Some of it is flat out terrible.

I don't care how long someone has been doing SEO, none of us can foresee the changes Google is going to be issuing over the next month or two.

Smart SEO people are paying very close attention right now and waiting to see what Big Google throws at us next.

In other words, almost any SEO guru trying to predict what is coming right now is an idiot.

As an SEO guy, I'm watching. A LOT. Every time one of my clients or customers asks what they should be doing, I tell them to keep doing exactly as they did before they got slapped.

While watching and researching, I kept falling upon the same situation over and over again.

A few specific websites were dominating search results. I did searches for all kinds of different terms from "sex" to "make money online".

For a short time, there was a blogger blog ranking #1 for "make money online" that didn't have a single word of content on it.

Over the hundreds of terms I've done Google searches for over the last few weeks, the same thing kept popping up.

In fact, one of my listings on one of these sites had recently dropped in ranking to the bottom of page 1. After Google's new pimp slaps, these listings jumped right back up to where they were at #2.

It forced me to take a step back and move into "Analyze" mode.

I began thinking about some of the off-the-wall things I'd done in the past.

This messy situation forced me to look at what I have. That website that got slapped silly isn't my only site, I have dozens of others.

I was floored to find in one search that I had a majority of the page to myself.

It's searched about 10 times per day (that demand was almost 100% created by me), so even with the millions of other results, I wasn't that impressed.

Then I found pure gold: #2 in Google for a term with 1,000 searches per day.

I'd never built a single link to the page.

I stopped dead in my tracks and began to rethink everything.

Just like you, I had this idea that I'd built into my head.

1. I have to start with a website.
2. I have to gain the trust of the search engines.
   
3. Then, I build links to my sites and their rankings increase.
   etc...

What I found completely opened my eyes.

An epiphany hit me like a pistol upside the head (I've been hit with one, it sucks).

I'd been working too hard on this stuff.

I realized that I'd stumbled upon a ridiculous shortcut.

Not only is it a shortcut, it required a lot less work, and it 100% can't be stopped, slapped, or beaten. EVER.

Initially, I wanted to curl up in a ball and hide. Sit and whimper: "Poor me, they finally got me".

Now, I'm pissed off.

I may get knocked down, but nobody wants to be near me when I get back up.

I transform into a combination of ninja and tasmanian devil, then go crazier than a witch doctor on a crack binge.

An even bigger epiphany hit me when it dawned on me that I wasn't the only one suffering.
